High School Anti DUI and Careless
Driving Demonstrations
The St.
Charles Fire Department has provided on going
demonstrations
for the three area high schools since 1998. Each year around
prom, the fire department partners with the St. Charles County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the St. Charles Police Department, MADD,
Baue Funeral Homes, one of two area tow agencies (D&L Towing has
helped in the past; Cardinal Towing is currently lending assistance),
and the administration of each of the three schools to bring an
important lesson to the students.
Our goal is to
provide them with information so that they may make informed choices
prior to getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. Although they are too
young to drink, we feel that we must bring this information to the
students while we have them as a captive audience. Additionally, with
the number of careless driving related deaths seemingly on the rise,
it is imperative that we impart to them the dangers of high speed
driving. In its entirety, the program is a life lesson, something for
students to live by now and in the future.
