Street Division

   The Street Division is responsible for the maintenance of City streets,  alleys, sidewalks, storm sewers and sanitary sewers.  The Division maintains approximately 460 miles of streets within the City limits.  This maintenance includes snow and ice removal, flood control, asphalt pothole patching and pavement maintenance, and also concrete street slab, curb, gutter and sidewalk repair and replacement   In addition, it installs and maintains street signs, and maintains traffic signals. 

   The Street Division also cleans sanitary and storm sewers as well as creek blockages.  It is responsible for maintaining trees and the mowing of weeds and grass on City right of ways.

    This Division maintains all Public Works and Community Development equipment and vehicles and sometimes repairs vehicles and equipment belong to other Departments, including the Police and Fire Departments. 

    It also coordinates the Adopt-A-Roadway Program which allows civic groups, families and individual citizens to adopt selected streets and roads within the City of St. Charles for the purpose of cleaning up litter.

    Finally, the Street Division also operates the St. Charles Area Transit System (SCAT) busses, the I-70 Shuttle Service and the St. Charles Trolley. Click here to link the St. Charles SCAT Schedules.
