Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood and Business Watch programs are a vital part of our policing efforts. . The program consists of  over 250 organized groups, each having a block captain that is fully involved and participating in the Neighborhood Watch program. Additional watch groups are being formed in high residency tournover areas like Powell Terrace as well as other apartment and rental housing areas. These organized groups of concerned citizens act as they eyes and ears of the police, reporting anything they believe is suspicious or out of the ordinary. In addition, they receive information on how to better safeguard their person, their families, and their property.

The focus of involving neighborhoods in crime prevention has expanded to include the business community too. Programs are designed for each individual businesses particular need. During the year, several Crime Reduction/Prevention Programs were specifically designed: for apartment managers, for hotel and motel managers and supervisors, and for banking/financial institutions. Besides specially designed programs, the Neighborhood/Business Watch Unit offers a large variety of standardized crime prevention programs.

This program is managed by Community Relations Specialist Christy Mayer. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to become involved, please call (636) 949-3541; e-mail: Christy Mayer.
