Director of Administration

Welcome to the Director of Administration Web Page

My tenure as the City's Director of Administration began on December 28, 2007, and my initial time on the job has been filled with meetings, greetings, briefings, and tours associated with the community and City operations.  There are many interesting and exciting things happening right now, and I am looking forward to serving the citizens who live and work here.  Likewise, my family and I want to get to know everyone and be a part of this great community.

The primary role of the City’s Director of Administration is to assist the Mayor with leadership, guidance, and support in the delivery of efficient and effective management of all City operations.  In consultation with Mayor York, my top five priorities for 2008 include:

  • Assisting Mayor York with the transition and implementation of our new form of City government.
  • Spearheading the organization and implementation of the City’s upcoming strategic planning process.
  • Assisting with the public bidding and recommendation on the contract for solid waste and recycling services for the next several years.
  • Providing support for several public initiatives such as a community center, renovations to City Hall, and the upgrade and expansion of our water and waste water treatment systems.
  • Evaluate and determine where we can make improvements with the efficiency and effectiveness of the City.

On the behalf of Mayor Patricia York and the St. Charles City Council, I would like to welcome you to our website.  As you peruse our website, you will see we provide the public with a wealth of information on a broad range of public services, programs, issues, and policies. We also publish a quarterly newsletter to help keep our community informed of all the wonderful sports, leisure, and cultural activities that take place throughout the year.  We hope you find our site helpful in learning more about our great City and all that we have to offer.

If you have any questions or need assistance from my office, please do not hesitate to contact me either at 636-949-3262 or email me at MSpurgeon@stcharlescity.com.
